Background of Business

Aqua Consultants began trading in February 2008, offering services to the commercial departments of Britain’s water companies. Formed by three graduates – Paul Massey, Tel Sultan and Mike Wilson – the company is based at Bradford Chamber’s new business centre in Laisterdyke. With strong support from Kickstart advisers the company made an impressive start and by July 2008, had already recruited three people, with a further six to be recruited by early 2009.

Support Journey

Aqua has received strong support from Kickstart advisers, in particular Patrick Coffey, Business Growth Adviser, and David Leather, Skills Counsellor. Says Tel Sultan: “Pat Coffey has saved us many hours of valuable time by making us aware of useful contacts and services, as well as helping us to find excellent premises. He also introduced Dave Leather and put us in touch with an ISO9001 quality standard adviser.” The company has also gained from using Kickstart professional services, notably through website design and the production of a corporate brochure, both of which have met the company’s requirements.

Where are they now

The company is trading so successfully that management has tripled its turnover target for year one. Clients include Essex and Suffolk Water and Northumbrian Water. Discussions with Yorkshire Water are ongoing. Aqua expects to have a team of 12 by early 2009. Among those who joined the company in summer 2008 was Taheer Shah, a graduate in electrical engineering from the University of Bradford. In the 2008 Yorkshire Biz Awards the company was shortlisted in the Fastest Growing Business category.
